Greensboro, NC (August 1, 2009) - As the season progresses, a number of Harris Teeter Senior Tour members are getting their games in shape and posting some low numbers in Tour play as was witnessed last Thursday in the Bryan Park (Players Course) event.
Every flight saw winners posting season-low scores for themselves, with other top five finishers doing the same. "I expect to see some movement to tougher flights for a number of our members, who have shown they can compete at a higher level" stated Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck. "Most of our guys wanted to get involved with Tour play to improve their games, and "running with the big dogs" is a proven way to accomplish that".
Willie Hendricks of Durham was the top dog in the Championship Flight with a 72. Hendricks was making a return to Tour play after an absence of a few months. He did so in style, shooting his even-par round from the 6,565 yd White tees.
The other 3 flights, which played from the 6,216 yd Golds also yielded some pretty low scores. Greensboro's Randy Coppedge shot a 70 to take top honors in the A Flight, while Advance's Dawson Strider posted a 74 to win the B Flight competition. The C Flight saw a rarity as Greensboro's TJ Warren broke 80 with a 78 enabling him to cruise to a 4-stroke victory.
"TJ's been playing great lately, and this number is definitely gonna put him back into the B Flight for future events", stated Hallenbeck. "He's not the only one who'll be moving".
