TOURNAMENT RESULTS by TOM KUBLA (BAYONET GC SERIES EVENT #2 MAR 19 2026)

On Thursday March 19th, the Senior Central Carolina Amateur Golf Tour and the Senior Eastern North Carolina Amateur Golf Tour met in Raeford at the Bayonet at Puppy Creek Golf Course. The occasion was the second head to head of four matchups for 2026 bragging rights.

In the Champ flight, Eli Villanueva continues his fine play by firing an even par 72 en route to the three shot victory. Outstanding golf Eli!  Roger Fogarty was the runner up with the round of 75, as Kevin Wooten from the Eastern NC Tour placed third with a score of 76. Fourth place was grabbed by Kelvin Wiggins from the Eastern NC Tour with a round of 77, while three players rounded out the fifth place scoring. ENC Tour Director Marty Martinez, Dean Parzaile, and Bill Long all shared fifth.

Another Central A flight player is also off to an excellent 2026 start as Ron Brady posted a round of 75 for the two stroke victory. Great golf Ron!  Second place was a T2 finish with Ken Gray from the ENC Tour and Mike Atwood both carding 77, while John East ended the day alone in fourth place by shooting 78. Fifth place was another three way tie as Les Rand, Jay Yergeau, and Angelo Williams from the Eastern NC Tour all recorded 81’s.

In the B flight, Gil Ro fought off the competition all day and ended up taking the single shot victory by shooting a 76. Well done Gil!  Owen Cuddington from the Eastern NC Tour took home runner up honors with a score of 77, as Ben Martin snagged third place by returning a score of 79. Lyman Howard from the Eastern NC Tour and Mike Wolstenholme ended their day T4 with a pair of 80’s. Sixth place with a round of 81 it was Todd Vick, while David Sigers from the Eastern NC Tour and Cisco Almodovar completed their rounds with scores of 82.

Eighteen holes of golf failed to produce an outright winner in the C flight Thursday. So James Adamski, and Dallas Shackleford from the Eastern NC Tour with matching scores of 83, proceeded back to hole one for a sudden victory playoff required by Tour Manual. James and Dallas matched scores on the first hole so the playoff continued on. The second hole was as far as the playoff would go as James’s bogey was just good enough to capture the win. Awesome golf James!  Dallas was the obvious runner up. Third place was a T3 as Trevor Horne and Corey McGee, both from the Eastern NC Tour, shot identical 85’s. Thomas Bullock and Glenn Lewis, again both from the Eastern Tour, matched scores of 86. And seventh place was again a tie with Davie Smith from the Eastern Tour and Mike Groom both turning in 87 to the scoring table.

Another sudden victory playoff was required Thursday, this time in the D flight as Marty Carpenter and Tour Director Pattina Martinez from the Eastern NC Tour fired a couple of 89’s. Marty and Pattina took off for the par 5 first hole to determine a winner. They moved their shots down the fairway until reaching the green, where Marty made a par putt that Pattina was unable to top. Good job Marty!  After Marty, the Eastern NC Tour dominated the flight taking the next SEVEN slots. Impressive indeed!    Second place went to Pattina due to the playoff. Third place belonged to John Ryon with his round of 90, while Gary Bascom and Rat Williams tied for fourth place with duplicate rounds of 92. Jimmy Dollar stood alone in sixth place by reporting in with a 93, and Donnie Pierce and Harold Johnson closed out their day T7 with a pair of 95’s.

After a short break in competition, Central Carolina next moves to Lexington to tackle Sapona CC on Thursday April 9th with a 9am shotgun start. Sign up while you are thinking about it. See you there!
