The Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour proceeded to Spring Lake GC for the final event of the 2026 season. The weather was quite warm as the players came off the course for the last time this year.
In the Champ flight, eighteen holes of golf was not enough to determine a winner as Dale Fogarty and Chris Gooch matched scorecards with rounds of even par 72. Tour manual rules require an on course playoff for first place, so Dale and Chris took off for hole one to take care of business. Chris’s par putt just slid by the hole, but Dale’s rattled in the bottom of the cup to give him the victory. Outstanding golf Dale! Chris’s 72 was the obvious runner up, while Steve Lassiter’s 76 landed him in third place. Kevin Mcdougald grabbed fourth place with a round of 80, as Eastern NC Tour Director Marty Martinez cleaned up the top five scores with his 81.
Bo Crooks collected his second A flight tournament win on this, the final event with an excellent even par round of 72. Awesome golf Bo! The runner up with a 74, Ken Gray, hails from the Eastern NC Tour, while Jay Yergeau posted a 79 taking home third place. Fourth place was snagged by Tour Director Chuck Smith by posting 80, and Ron Brady closed out the top five scores with an 81.
In the B flight, Jim Wiginton from the Charlotte Tour shot a nice round of 79 to take the two stroke victory. Great golf Jim! Tim Wall from the Eastern NC Tour garnered runner up honors by shooting 81, while Cisco Almodovar placed third with a round of 86. Mike Wolstenholme wrapped up fourth place by shooting 87, as Doug Harvey from the Eastern NC Tour claimed fifth place with his score 88.
In the C flight, as in the Champ flight, eighteen holes of golf was not enough to determine a winner. Keith Meeks, and Steve High from the Eastern NC Tour, matched scorecards with rounds of 84 requiring an on course playoff for first place. So Keith and Steve took off for hole one to take care of business. The winner and runner up in this flight was identical to the Champs by just changing the names. In this case, Steve's putt slid by the hole while Keith’s found the bottom of the cup for the win. Excellent golf Keith! Mike Groom fired 87 to capture third place. Meanwhile, fourth place ended as a T4 finish with Sherrill Johnson and Glenn Lewis, both from the Eastern NC Tour, carding scores of 90.
The D flight also ended in a two way tie requiring a playoff with Benton Smith and Pattina Martinez both recording scores of 92. In this case, the first playoff hole ended in another tie forcing at least one more hole. The second hole did indeed produce a winner with Benton making a par putt that Pattina was unable to cover. Great job Benton, and Congrats! Third place turned into a three way T3 with Dennis Dreelin from the Charlotte Tour, Richard Pfister, and Tom Howell from the Eastern NC Tour, all reporting to the scoring table with identical 95’s.
