On April 16th, Central Carolina Senior Amateur Golf Tour arrived in Clayton so the players could tackle Riverwood Golf Club. The Meadowlands and Riverwood nines were the 18 holes played. It was warm weather for golf.
In the Champ flight, Dale Fogarty fired off a nice round of 77 to capture the three shot victory. Well done Dale! Kevin McDougald carded the runner up round of 80.
Paul Hundhammer also posted a three shot victory in the A flight with his round of 78. Great golf Paul! Shawn Cacioppo continues to play well shooting 81 to grab the runner up spot. Third place became a T3 as Michael Smith, Jay Yergeau, and Ron Brady all recorded rounds of 83. Visiting guest member from the Michigan Tour, Tom Van Cleave, ended the day in sixth place with a score of 84.
In the B flight, Bobby Shipwash battled all day and in the end pulled out a single shot victory by posting 81. Awesome golf Bobby! Michael Broadway and Gil Ro were co-runners up as each player returned a score of 82. Fourth place was snagged by Michael Phan by shooting an 84, while Ben Martin rounded out the top five with his round of 87.
Rich Henn from the Eastern NC Tour made his trip pay off by firing an 86 to capture the C flight victory by three. Outstanding golf Rich! Keith Meeks took second place honors posting an 89, while James McPherson returned to competitive action landing in third place with a round of 94. William McDonald picked up fourth place notching a 95, and Rick Kohan completed the top five scoring with a 96.
In the D flight, Tour Director Sola Smith got off to a good start and kept it rolling. Shooting 92 gave her a five shot victory and her first win of the season. Well played and congrats Sola! Second place was a T2 finish with Richard Pfister, and James Eatmon from the Mississippi Tour both recording rounds of 97. Fourth place was a T4 ending as Kelly Brown and Mike Sizemore turned in matching scorecards of 99.
