Winners of all flights
What a great field of Senior & Amateur players we had come out for our first 2-day event of the year @ Christmas Lake GC. With ideal course conditions on a great golf course, with the last group of the day making the turn, the much needed rain came down on us, (yes we needed the rain), but after a short delay in play we got back out on the links. With some nice scores being posted we had a close battle in the Champ flight with Tommy Jones posting a 2 over par 74, leading Dw...
ight Seals-76, Jay Pearce-77, Danny Preske-77 and Sid Dye-80. The A-flight was lead by Bob Glordan posting the low round of the day @ 1 over par - 73, 3 strokes back was Steve Henke-76, and Wayne Sanders @79. The B-flight was led by Bill Brinegar at 76, close behind him was Stan Billman and Jess Roberson both posting 79's. The C-flight was really close with 5 players within 3 strokes of each other, Jeff Pleiss-85, Tom Salo-86, Bill Nadeau, Glen Freeman, and Larry Gish all posting 88's. Larry Schofield coming all the way from Columbus, Ohio tour led the D-flight with a nice 88, followed by Josh Hart-98. After a Saturday evening cookout hosted by Phil Grimm, and his wife Angie, with a few brewskies drank, cigars smoked, (and a few stories told as well) we were looking forward to a sunny day on Sunday.
With the field re-paired up with leaders of each flight playing together we had some good competition set to go. Tommy Jones posted the low round of the tournament with a real nice 4 under 68 for a 2 day total of 2 under 142, winning the Champ flight over Dwight Seals-151, Bob Glordan also held his lead in the A-flight scoring an even par round of 72 for a 2 day total of 145, Wayne Sanders posted a 75-(154) for second and Steve Henke-(156). With 3 B-flight leaders paired together on Sunday Jess Roberson posted a low round of 76 (155), followed by Bill Brinegar (159), and Stan Billman (161). In the C-flight Tom (moving to B-flight??) Salo posted a nice 76-(162) for a 5 stroke win over Jeff Pleiss (171), followed by Bill Nadeau, II (173), and Bob Fleeger got it going on Sunday with a nice 83 (174) for a 4th place finish. The D-flight was won by larry Schofield with a 2 day total of 183 followed by Josh Hart (192).
