3/20/22
Clovernook Country Club is the home of the Cincinnati Tour’s season opener. With high demand of play at this historic site, we found ourselves splitting the opener over two weekends. The first date was led off by our Senior Tour’s A and B flights followed by the regular tour’s C and D flights.

In the Senior A flight, Jim Hubbard of the Cincinnati Tour found himself a winner firing a solid round of 73. Jim managed to birdie 17 and 18 to hold off Todd Bridges, who also scored well with a 76 for the second place finish. Ryan Slone shot a 78 to come in third.

In the Senior B flight, Mike Hannon of the Columbus, OH Tour played steady all day capturing the victory with a solid round of 80. Holding off Steve Riley, also from the Columbus, OH Tour, who also played well with an 82. Bill Butts and Ron Kieslich both from the Cincinnati Tour rounded out the day finishing third and fourth respectively.

Next on the tee sheet was the regular tour’s C flight. Cincinnati veteran player Ian Herzog and tour newcomer Kevin Lawson found themselves tied after 18 holes with rounds of 86. After a one hole playoff with darkness looming, neither could pull off the victory tying yet again. They split first place and will be looking to do battle once again. Cameron McKinley and Jeremy Richardson of the Cincinnati Tour found themselves tied for third both firing rounds of 88. McKinley took third and Richardson fourth after a scorecard playoff.

Wrapping things up was the regular tour D flight. Cincinnati’s own David Hall, a multiple winner in 2021, once again found himself hoisting the trophy with a fine round of 86. Finding himself just one shot back was Cincinnati’s Greg Rybarczyk scoring an 87. Brandon Rainbolt of the Cincinnati Tour and Dwight Blair of the Cleveland/Akron Tour found themselves tied with rounds of 93 with Rainbolt securing third after a scorecard playoff.

3/27/22
The second weekend of our 2022 season opener truly lived up to it’s name, Ice Breaker. With temperatures in the high 30’s our dedicated players toughed it out making everything a success.

Our first flight of the day was the Champ flight. Matt Sander (Cincinnati Tour) and Dorian Vauls (Cincinnati Tour) found themselves tied after 18 holes with fine rounds of 76. Sander was able to capture the victory with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Blake Connelly (Chicago Tour), Joe Goldschmidt (Cincinnati Tour), Griffin Wurtz (Cincinnati Tour) and last year’s Champ flight Player of the Year, Dustin Fields (Cincinnati Tour) all tied for third with respectable rounds of 78.

Next up was the A flight. Kory Hemm (Cincinnati Tour) was able to hold off last year’s A flight Player of the Year and defending Clovernook Champion, Kevin Dick (Cincinnati Tour) by one shot, capturing his first win on the Cincinnati Tour. Hemm let his steady play turn in a round of 80, besting Dick who had an 81. Brian Pero (Cincinnati Tour) and JT Bunner (Cincinnati Tour) finished in a tie for third with an 85.

B flight rounded out our regular tour’s opener. Brad Maxwell (Cleveland/Akron Tour) rode a hot putter to the victory shooting a great round of 78. Peter Detty (Cincinnati Tour) and Jason Vanderpool (Cincinnati Tour) found themselves tied with rounds of 82, with Detty taking second after a scorecard playoff.

Next is the Senior Tour C flight. Brian Lane (Cincinnati Tour) captured the title with an outstanding round of 86 during the coldest part of the day. Scott Grossarth (Cincinnati Tour) was second with a 91.

Last up was the Senior D flight. Scott Goodhart (Cincinnati Tour) was able to beat the darkness and the bitter cold, firing a 97 to bring home the win.

We would like to thank everyone once again for coming out and supporting the tour despite the frigid temperatures. Your dedication means a lot to every one of your peers. Thanks again for taking great care of the course, leaving it how you found it. This is what enables us to secure top notch clubs like Clovernook for our members to enjoy in a tournament setting. See you all at our next event on April 3rd at Country Club of the North.

Thank you to all players who came out and contributed to an awesome event at a great course, as the race to to Hilton Head begins!
