The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 12th tournament of the season at River Run CC. Thanks to David Ross and the staff at River Run for the great the best course conditions we have played this year. The redo of the course was well applauded by all the players. Mike Emory gets the first ace of the season on tour. Mike Emory’s hole-in-one came at the par 3 4th hole with a pitching wedge. It was Mikes 11th hole-in-one! Championship Flight: Greg Powell tasted victory for the first time this season with a strong even par round of 72. Greg’s victory did not come easy as Mark Wagner and Brad Kroll were on his heels all day. Powell fired a one under par 35 on the back nine to beat both players by one shot. Wagner and Kroll both posted 73’s with Wagner beating out Kroll on the card for second place. Kroll’s third place finish did move him into first place in the point’s standings ahead of Walters and Richard Krapfel. Rounding out the top five spots were John Walters and Richard Krapfel both at 75. A Flight: Terry Lewis and Len McAlister tied for first spot with 78’s. McAlister got into this position by birding both 17 and the 18th hole. McAlister unfortunately bogey the number one handicap hole the 16th and lost first on the card. Right behind them was a pair of 79’s; Robin Dellinger and River Run member Larry Schimel. It was Dellinger beating Schimel on the card for third place. B Flight: Conway Powell kept the Powell name in first place on Wednesday with a great round of 77. Powell needed his great round to just edge out the Triad tours David Frye by one spot; Frye finished at 78. Lonnie Nichols cashed in at third place with 79 and a host of players fired 80’s but John Love beat all of them on the card. C Flight: Local River Run member Jeff Davidson also won for the first time this season but needed the scorecard playoff to do so. Davidson tied with Gary Graham with 86 and on the card playoff Davidson won over Graham. Once again a little home cooking paid off as Don Elsass finished in third place with a smooth 88. Sindo mayor rounded out the top four and cashed with 89. The tour takes a short break and its next stop will be (Tuesday) 6/30 at Raintree (South).
