The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 10th tournament of the season at Carolina Lakes GC. Thanks to all the staff at Carolina Lakes for all the great work in allowing us to take the carts out on the fairway given all the rain this week. Once agin we get it in just barely before the rains came. Championship Flight: Jeff Rausch started out slow on Wednesday with a 38 on the front nine, but once Rausch got to the 10th hole he really heated up. Rausch birdied his next 3 holes the 10th, 11th and the tricky par three 12th. A final birdie at the par five 17th hole capped a four under par 32 on the inward nine. Jeff finished the day at 2 under par 70 just one shot clear of 2 other players and just 2 shots ahead of three at even par. Richard Krapfel and John Burton finished at one under par 71’s with Krapfel beating out JB on the card for second. This is Burton’s second straight third place finish. Three players came in at even par 72’s with Greg Powell beating out John Walter’s and Bill Thaxton on the card for fourth spot. A Flight: 75 was the magic number in A flight on Wednesday. Three players completed there round at three over par; however on the playoff it was Mike Poteat getting first place money and Lee Sargent getting second over Ted Friel. This was Mike’s first victory of the 2009 season. Rounding out the top four was Mike Harter at 76. B Flight: Jerry York used his home course knowledge en route to his beast round of the season at 74. York claimed victory for the first time this season on the Harris Teeter Senior Tour. Dave Courtright finished in second place at 78, and local member Terry McClure beat out Jack Sommer for third spot. Both McClure and Sommers fired 79’s. C Flight: Jimmy O’Neal recorded his first victory of the season in fine fashion beating the field by 5 shots with 81. A log jam at 86 paid out the next 3 spots. Bobby Angela finished in second place, Van Storie in third and Gary Graham in fourth spot. Let me know quickly about our next 2 tour stops; There are filling up fast and both courses are in great shape, we will finally get to play the ball down…..
