Winners form the Warrior GC on 4-18-09
The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 7th tournament of the season with 87 players competing on Wednesday in “Gail Force Winds”. Thanks to all the staff at the Warrior some of the best greens we play all year! Championship Flight: John Walters did not make a single birdie all day until he 2 putted the par 5 17th. That was the only birdie in his entire group because of the tough wind conditions on Wednesday. Walters 75 was good enough for a two shot victory over 3 other players. Brad Kroll finished second with 77 beating out Richard Krapfel and Jim Jamison on the score card playoffs. Krapfel got 3rd and Jamison 4th place. A Flight: Ron Ballew had been struggling a bit this season but the tough conditions Wednesday seemed to play into Ron’s game. Ballew finished the day tied for first place with James Herndon both firing 77’s, but it was Ballew beating out Herndon on the card for 1st place. Ted Friel finished one shot back at 78 good enough for a solo third place. Terry Schronce beat out Jim Graham and points leader Terry Lewis four 4th spot with all players shooting 79’s. B Flight: Bill Lovine fresh off his promotion from C Flight must have found the tougher competition to his liking. Lovine won by one shot Wednesday by firing a nice 80. Newcomer John Kenyon-Muir started out his season in fine fashion mustering up a second place finish with 81. A pair of 82’s decided 3rd & 4th places with Ray Smith beating out John Love on the card. The day also brought Smith a closest to the pin on #16 and a skin. C Flight: Joe Trzybinski played his round of the year with a blistering 83 in the tough windy conditions. Cograts to Joe on his promotion to "B" flight we know you will be able to compete. Finishing just one shot back was Hal Miller who shot 84 for second place and his first cash of the season. Jim Castello also cashed for the first time with a 3rd place finish at 87. Van Storie rounded out the top four finishing at 88. Once again all the flights were very tightly contested.
