John Walters (Champ Flight) Bob Boettner (A Flight) Sam Carpenter (B Flight) Steve Daniels (C Flight)!

Last event for the 2011 season concluded yesterday at Northstone CC on a perfect fall day!

Championship Flight:

John Walters did what he has done all season win.  Walters won not only Wednesday event at Northstone but also the season long pints race Championship.  Walters win Wednesday was his fifth of the season to go along with 5 second place finishes.  Walters win came by firing a one over par round of 73 beating out Mark Wagner by one who finished second with 74.  Ted Cox grabbed third spot at 75 and Jerry Sennett rounded out the top four with 77.

A Flight:

Bob Boettner won for the second straight week as the former National Champion several years ago looks to have his game back in form for Pinehurst next week.  Boettner won by 6 shots shooting a 3 over par round of 75.   Len McAlister and Dennis Piccone both tied at 81 with McAlister winning on the card for second place.  McAlister’s second place finish would be very big in winning the over all points race.  Jeff Hughes cashed in fourth place with a smooth 82.  Tim Romeo had the A flight points lead going into the final day of the season but Len McAlister and his second place finish moved him ahead of Romeo by only 47.5 points to claim the A Flight points championship for the 2011 season.

B Flight:

Sam Carpenter won by two shots over Ron LaMorte and also took home the B flight points championship.  Lamorte fired an 80 that and Conway Powell grabbed third place money with 83.  Joe Lee also shot 83 but lost on the card playoff but still cashed in 4th place.

C Flight:

Steve Daniels registered his first ever Senior Tour victory and used his home course knowledge to his advantage.  Daniels plays some on the senior tour but Wednesday he made sure his vistory was secure as he fired a great round of 81 to win by six.  Larry Griffin finished in second place with 87 and three players were tied at 88.  David Ferguson got third and Hinson fourth on the card playoff while Sindo Mayor grabbed fifth place.  Don Elsass saw his C flight points lead shrink each week as Larry Hinson made a late season charge but fell just short in his bid to catch Elsass.  Elsass ended up winning by 166 points overall but it was never a lock until the last card was posted on Wednesday.
