Championship Flight:

Rock Pickard won for the first time ever on tour firing a great even par round of 72.  Rock birdied the number one handicap hole to beat out John Walters who finished second also with 72.  Right behind both of them was Ted Cox at 73 and Allen Craven who cashed 4th place money at 75.

A Flight:

Robert Smith continues to see his game come around and also won for the first time on tour with 72.  With that score Smith’s index dropped to a 2.2 so he graciously accepted the challenge of moving up to Champ Flight for the remainder of the 2011 season.  Larry Cowman also will be making the move up as he fired a smooth 74 Wednesday for second place and dropped his index below 4.0.  Good luck to both Larry & Robert you’ll be a great addition to our already strong Championship Flight field.  Marty James finished in third with 75 and Steve Romito back of the injured reserve list grabbed 4th with 76.

B Flight:

Ron LaMorte and Stan Wetmore both stood tied after regulation with 77’s.  Wetmore looking for his first ever victory on tour will have to wait until Firethorn as LaMorte grabbed first place on the card playoff.  Bill Holland and Conway Powell fished just one shot back at 78, with Holland winning on the card for third place money.

C Flight:

Gary Graham and Dick Hood also finished tied at 85, but it was Graham beating out Hood on the card for the win.  With that score posted Hood will be promoted to the B Flight as his index dropped to 13.2 congrats Dick on your continued great play.  Sindo Mayor and Don Elsass both finished tied Wednesday at 86 with Mayor getting third on the card playoff.

Remember that Pinehurst is just around the corner all the information on the tournament will be on the web page mid month.  If you’re currently in the top 15 let me know if you’re planning to attend the event in November.

Thanks and have a great Labor Day weekend!
