Championship Flight:
John Walters continues his dominance this season in Champ flight as he recorded yet another victory Monday at Irish Creek. Walters was the only player in the field to break par as he fired 70 to win by 2 shots. Brad Kroll had the lead at the turn posting a 2 under par 33 but on the par 4 10th hole Kroll and 2 other players accidentally played from the wrong tee boxes and carded a 7 and 2 sizes after the penalties’. Still give Kroll some respect as he hung in there and finished tied for second at 72. Also at 72 was Greg Powell who won second place money on the card over Kroll. Mark Wagner and Bill Phillips both finished the day at 73 with Wags winning on the card playoff 4th place.
A Flight:
Tom Carbone won for the first time this year and did so with his best round ever on tour a 2 over par 72. Four shots back were there players at 76; Jeff Hughes, Griggy Porter and Gary Bell. Hughes beat both on the card for second place money and Porter grabbed third.
B Flight:
Bob Frass, Lloyd Morris and Bill Shenoha all tied for first place Monday shooting 79’s. Frass won for the first time ever on tour by winning the card playoff and Morris finished in second place. Ron LaMorte fired an 80 good enough for 4th place money.
C Flight:
Don Elsass won this tightly contested flight as 11 players finished within 4 shots of Elsass. Elsass fired an 82 for the victory just nipping out Mark Roden and Jim Wittersheim by one. Both Roden and Witterseim posted 83’s with Roden winning second on the card. Jimmy Taylor beat out David Ferguson and Van Storie on the card for 4th place with all three players firing 84’s.
