Championship Flight:

Well since Jim Aughtry his new tournament number appears to be 68.  As we all know Jim qualified 2 weeks ago for the US Senior Open with a score of 68 and yesterday shot another 68 to win his first ever event at Statesville CC.  Jim turned at 36 but the putter got hot on the back nine with 4 birdies and a 4 under par 32.  Jim Hunsuck used his home field advantage well grabbing second place with an even par 72.  Steve Lambert and Ken Powers shot 74’s but it was Lambert grabbing 3rd place money on the card.

David Watterworth did something yesterday that no other player has done on the history of the Senior Amateur Tour have his second hole-in-one in a tournament.  Watterworth had one several years ago on the par three 6th hole a CC of Salisbury and today was on the 17th hole with a hybrid 5 iron from 181 yards, Congrats David!

A Flight:

Griggy Porter won for the first time all season but had to due so in sudden-death.  After all cards were tallied Porter was tied with Larry Cowman at 74, Cowman also looking for huis first win of the 2011 season.  On the card playoff Porter nipped Cowman for first place.  Alan Skelton and Len McAlister also were tied at 78 and Skelton won on the card playoff for third.

B Flight:

Ron LaMorte posted a smooth 79 enroot to his second victory of the season.  Conway Powell finished in second with 81 and Sam Carpenter beat out Joe Lee on the card for third.  Both Carpenter and Lee shot 84’s.

C Flight:

Larry Hinson won by 2 shots Wednesday posting 85.  John Crofts finished in second place with 87 and Jerry Hoogevenn beat out Don Elsass on the card playoff, both players shooting 88’s.
