Championship Flight:

Greg Powell found his way back to the winner’s circle Wednesday at Firethorne CC.  Greg has been on tour for over 5 years now and probably ended his longest draught without a victory.  Powell and Jerry Sennett both turned at even par 36, but found themselves one back to John Walters 35.  On the tough inward nine Powell bested both players with a one over par 37; for a smooth 73 and the victory by one shot.  Walters had an up and down back nine but still managed to finish in second place with 74.  A log jam at 75 saw Jerry Sennett, Rock Pickard & Chris Tucker all tied at this number.  Sennett beat both players on the card for third place money and Pickard grabbed 4th.

A Flight:

Newcomer to the tour Mike Murphy took his home field advantage and made it work for him Wednesday as he nipped two other players by one shot for his first tour victory with 75.  Tim Romeo and Bob Boettner both fired 76’s but it was Romeo getting second on the card playoff.  Fourth place money also went to the card as Bob Jones beat out David Frye and Bill Beal with all three shooting 78’s.

B Flight:

Sam Carpenter beat out to other players by only one shot to capture another victory in B Flight this season.  Carpenter fired 80 while Lloyd Morris beat out Bill Holland on the card for second place money.  Both Morris and Holland shot 81.  Steve Williams and Jack Long also tied at 82, but Williams grabbed 4th on the card.

C Flight:

Don Boyd won for the first time in 2 years and did so in fine fashion shooting his best score ever on tour an 81.  Van Storie played in Boyd’s group but could not catch Don, but did catch second place money with 84.  Jimmy Taylor finally put a good round together and captured third place Wednesday with 85.  Larry Hinson also shot 85 but finished in fourth place on the card playoff.
