Championship Flight:

Ken Powers grabbed his first victory of the season by one shot Wednesday.  Powers said he got up and down from everywhere to save his one over par round of 72.  Power’s pared his last hole to beat out Tom Cone by one shot.  Cone had the lead going into the 18th hole but stumbled coming in to end up in second place with 73.  Jeff Rausch did something yesterday that I rarely see even running as many tournaments as I do.  Rausch had sixteen 4’s yesterday and all fours on his front nine.  Jeff’s only fives were on 10 and 13.  Bogey on 10 and par on 13.  Rausch ended up with 74 and cashed third place money.  Rounding out the top four was Mark Wagner at 76.

A Flight:

Newcomer to the tour Billy Poteat broke through for the first time with a 7 over par round of 78.  Paul Gargano was right on Poteat’s heals but finished in second place one shot back at 79.  Last Years winner Len McAlister could not repeat but did wind up in third place on the card with 80.  David Frye also shot 80 and grabbed fourth place money.

B Flight:

Another tour rookie an oddly enough another Poteat claimed victory on Wednesday as Bobby Poteat won the B flight.  Bobby shot 43 on his first nine but finished strong with 39 on his back side for a smooth 82 and a one shot victory.  Sam Carpenter got second place one shot back at 83.  Marty James cashed for the first time this season in third place with 84.  Conway Powell beat out Jack Long, Dan Keddie & Larry Schimel on the card playoff for 4th place.  All these players shot 85’s.

C Flight:

Steve Gough won for the first time in three years on tour an ironically won by three shots with 90.  Larry Hinson finished in second place with 93.  Another log jam playoff occurred this time at 94 with Harrold Soutier grabbing third and Van Storie 4th.  Don Elsass, Wayne Creese and Larry Griffin all lost out in the card playoff.
