Thanks to all of you who played on the 2010 Senior Amateur Tour this season. It was our most competitive season yet with over 200 member’s competing in 26 tournaments. The vast majority of our tournaments were played at Private Country Clubs making us the premier option for Senior Golfers. The average field size this season was 88 players which kept the speed of play more enjoyable. Next years schedule is almost complete; it will be in print and on the web page right after Thanksgiving. Next week will be the final week of the season the 2010 Senior National Championship in Pinehurst, NC. Championship Flight: John Walters not only grabbed victory at Cedarwood but also the season long Point Champion. Walters played smooth all day carding an even par 36 on the front nine and finished up tied for first with 74. Chuck Wunsch who has missed most of the season with back injuries finally got his back in shape to play and made the most of it. Wunsch also fired a 74 but lost on the card playoff and received second place money. Jeff Rausch fired a 76 for third place while the Triad’s Steve Lambert took 4th on the card over Ted Cox. A Flight: Bill Beal won for the second time this season but did so in sudden-death fashion. Beal along with Len McAlister tied with 81’s, but it was Beal winning on the card and the first place victory. David Frye last week’s winner at Salisbury is getting his game in shape for next week in Pinehurst. Frye started early with 3 double bogies but held on for a third place finish with 82. Lee Sargent grabbed 4th place with 84. Your overall A Flight Points Champion was eve consistent Terry Lewis. Good luck with the surgery in the off season Terry and we look to see you back next season. B Flight: Frank Czaniecki used his local knowledge of Cedarwood to win by 2 shots on Wednesday. Frank fired an 83 to beat Joe Burgess by 2 shots. Burgess not only grabbed second place with his 85 but overtook John Love for the B Flight Points Championship by less than 100 points. Burgess had to finish either first or second to have a chance. Bill Shenoha edged out Dick Kolk on the card for 3rd place. Both players fired 88’s. C Flight: Joe Lee continues to improve his game late in the season and should be a force in Pinehurst for Charlotte next week. Lee fired a winning score of 86 beating out Don Boyd by 2 shots. Boyd’s 88 was good enough for second place. John Willman finished in third with 89 and Jerry Hoogeveen got 4th place money at 91.
