Jerry Sennett (Champ Flight) Russ Priddy ( A Flight) Ray Smith (B Flight) Joe Lee (C Flight)
Thanks to Alan Cress and the crew at Irish Creek for the excellent playing conditions yesterday. As we all know this summer has produced some very stressed greens but the Irish Creek were the best we have seen all year. Please note the web page is (www.senioramateurgolftour.net) if you have the old (www.harristeetersrtour.com) as your favorites please change as this does not work any more. You will be sent to a business site. The tours next stop will be Wednesday Sept 1st at RedBridge GC in Locust, NC. This is a brand new course that just opened last season. They put in all the new Champion Bermuda grass and with the cold winter had some issues with the greens. I road the course today (Tuesday 8/24) and they are back in fine shape. Still keeping them a little high until we play next week. Directions: From 485 take exit 41 (Hwy 24/27), travel 11.5 miles east toward Albemarle. The Villages at Red Bridge is on left just before Crutchfield Community College and a WalMart super center. Practice rounds for RedBridge are (weekday) only. Price $29. Tee Boxes RedBridge: Champ & A Flight: White Tees 6402 Note play 18th from Gold tees 582 par 5. B & C Flight: Gold Tees 5768 moved to 6100 yards ( #2, 4, 5, 10, 17) from the front of the Whites. Championship Flight: Jerry Sennett won for the second time in a row and third time this season. Sennett started out fast and was 3 under par after 10 holes, however the tough finishing three holes lived up to their billing, but he still managed a 2 shot victory with an even par round of 71. John Walters played consistent all day but just could not get any putts to drop as he posted only one birdie on the day. Walters 73 was good enough for second place and first place in the overall season point’s standings. Larry Culler who was moved up from A flight several events, ago finished one shot behind Walters with 74. Bill Hall also shot 74 but lost on the card playoff for 3rd place. A Flight: Russ Priddy won for the first time all season by one shot with 76. Right behind Priddy was Steve Romito at 77 and Terry Lewis with 78. Four players tied with 79’s; Mike Purkey, Greg Johnson, Cecil Lockley and Bob Boettner. B Flight: Another first time winner came out of the B flight on Monday as Ray Smith grabbed his first victory with a smooth 76. Ray needed to make par on the last hole which he did to seal his victory. Right behind Smith was John Love and Howard Rohrer at 77; it was Love beating out Rohrer on the card for second place. Joe Burgess and James Taylor also tied at 79 and Burgess got 4th place money on the card. C Flight: Joe Lee also won for the first time this season and his 82 was his best round in 10 years. Smiling from ear to ear Joe took his first place check in stride as it had been a long dry spell. I hear memberships are available at a good price Joe…. Newcomer Ed Bograd also played well and fired an 84 for second place on Monday. Bill Church had 85 and Jerry Hoogeveen 87 to round out the top four spots. Note on the 2010 Senior Tour Championship go ahead and Pre Register if you’re interested in playing in Pinehurst. I have been getting a lot of questions about finishing in the top 15 which actually turns out to be about the top 20. We want 60 players from Charlotte to compete for individual titles as well as the team cup which we are defending. Some of the top 15 will elect not to play in Pinehurst so then I’ll take as many players below (in order) of finish until we get 15 per flight. Also we expect over 300 players this year and course selections will be determined on each flight size. So pre-registering would be greatly appreciated.
