A birdie at the 16th hole gave him the victory and a final round score of 3 under par 69. Jerry captured his second title of the season and moved into 8th place overall in the points standings. Ken Powers shot even par for the second tourney in a row and grabbed second place money while Ted Cox beat out Charles Knight on the card for third place. Both Cox and Knight shot 73’s. A Flight: Ricky Segal won for the first time all season with a 2 over par round of 74. Ricky a long time member of Raintree member used his knowledge well for the victory. Ed Gregor also a member of the club finished in second place one shot behind Segal with 75. Newcomer Tim Romeo had his best outing of the season finishing in third place with 76. Rounding out the top four was Bill Barnett’s 74; which was encouraging for Bill as his game has struggled some this summer. B Flight: John Love won for the second time in a row with 75; and this time with his own Clubs! Loves last victory came at Rock Barn with a rental set so now he can claim victory with his own bats. Congrat’s John on your back to back victories. Sam Carpenter was the only other player to break 80 and finished in second place with 79. Chet Brileya continues his improvement and grabbed third place with 81 while Howard Rohrer beat out Lloyd Morris and Dick Kolk on the card playoff for 4th place money. All three players shot 82’s. C Flight: Tony Bruno also broke through for the first time with a stellar round of 82. Tony just nipped out Matt Papes by one shot for the victory. For Papes his 83 was his best round of the season which garnered him second place and good news for the future as he seeks that elusive first victory. David Ferguson also cashed for the first time this year in third place with 85. Larry Hinson, Richard Marazza & Jerry Hoogeveen all tied at 86, but it was Hinson nipping them on the card for 4th place. Note on the 2010 Senior Tour Championship go ahead and Pre Register if you’re interested in playing in Pinehurst. I have been getting a lot of questions about finishing in the top 15 which actually turns out to be about the top 20. We want 60 players from Charlotte to compete for individual titles as well as the team cup which we are defending. Some of the top 15 will elect not to play in Pinehurst so then I’ll take as many players below (in order) of finish until we get 15 per flight. Also we expect over 300 players this year and course selections will be determined on each flight size. So pre-registering would be greatly appreciated.
