Robert was not in the lead all day until he made back to back birdies at 14 and 15 for a one over par round of 71. Ken Powers again finished in the top with a second place finish at 74. Noel Brown also fired a 74 on Wednesday but lost to Powers on the card for third place. A host of players shot 76 but it was Steve Spoon who nipped Don Laney and Wayne Godwin on the card for 4th place. A Flight: Fresh off the Davidson win over South Carolina “Coach” Lee Sargent was pumped and and ready to go Wednesday. Sargent handled Salisbury quite effectively and won by a three shot margin with 76. Terry Lewis and David Frye both shot 79’s but it was Lewis who nipped Frye on the card for second place. There was also a ties for 4th place with Ted Friel and Jim Gregory shooting a pair of 82’s. Friel beat out Gregory on the card for 4th spot. B Flight: Lonnie Nichols captured his first victory of the season by firing an 84 at Salisbury. John Love and Lloyd Morris both shot 86 on Wednesday but it was Love winning the scorecard playoff for second spot. A group of players finished at 87 but it was the grizzled veteran Max Mast who beat Courtright and Wilson on the card for 4th place. C Flight: New tour member Charlie Wallace tasted victory for the first time this season by being the only player to break 90 on Wednesday. Charlies 89 was good enough for a one shot victory over Bill Church who shot 90. Tour Veteran Don Elsass shot 91 for third spot and Gary graham’s 92 rounded out the top four places. Once again all the flights were very tightly contested. For full view of the results just go to the web page and click on tournament results.
