Championship Flight: John Walters won again on Tuesday and extended his point lead over Mr. 2nd Ted Cox. John made the turn one down to Ted Cox who fired a one under par 35 on his front nine, but Walters made quick work of that lead by make three straight birdies at 11, 12 and 13 to finish at one under par 71. Ted Cox grabbed second spot for about the 10th time with a 3 over par 75 while local member Brad Kroll shot 77 for third place. Jim Hunsuck rounded out the top four spots with 79. Next weeks event at Providence CC is the home course of Walters, Cox, and Jeff Rausch should be a great shoot-out for these guys. A Flight: Larry Culler takes the victory Tuesday by only one shot with 77. Bob Boettner was hot on Culler’s heals but finished in second place with 78. Local club member Ed Gregor also took home field advantage well and finished 3rd with 79. Brian Failing rounded out the top four spots with 83. B Flight: Ron LaMorte had the lead as we posted the last B flight card on Tuesday. LaMorte had fired an 80 and then John Love was posted with 80. Since we don’t go into sudden-death we went to the card playoff which LaMorte won for his first victory on tour. Tom Holmes and Louis Hinson also tied for third and fourth with 82’s, but it was Holmes grabbing the third spot on the card. C Flight: Newcomer Larry Griffin also won for the first time firing a smooth 86 to win by 2 shots. Mac Geddie shot 88 good enough for second place, while Jim Wittersheim beat out John Crofts for third place on the card. Both players fired a pair of 89’s.
