The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its third tournament of the season with 100 players competing on Wednesday. Thanks to all the staff at Pine Lake CC and the club members for letting this become an official tour stop for many years to come. Championship Flight: (Black Tees- 6450) John Walters got back on the winning track Wednesday with a 2 under par 70 at Pine Lake CC. Walters round included 4 birdies and a pair of 35’s on both nines. Last weeks winner Ken Powers failed to keep pace with Walters but did fire a fine 73 to finish alone in second place. A log jam at 74 saw Grant Hoffman and Steve Spoon beat out Greg Powell for third and fourth respectively. A Flight: (Black Tees - 6450) James Herndon also captured his first win of the 2009 season. Herndon played consistent all day and carded winning score of 79. Last years Tour Champ winner Bob Boettner finished in second place at 81. Last year’s winner Buck Carter continued to like Pine Lake CC finishing this year in third place with 82. Carter nipped Terry Schronce who also shot 82 on the score card playoff. B Flight: (Blue Tees - 6209) Marty James got his game back on track and with it a promotion to “A” Flight. James played very well Wednesday coming off knee surgery last season to win going away with 77. Point’s leader Sam Carpenter’s 82 was good enough for second beating out Don Russell who finished at 83. Steve Starnes continues to play very consistently in B Flight and captured 4th spot at 84. C Flight: (Blue Tees - 6209) Charlie Harkey also tasted victory for the first time this season winning by 4 shots with an 85. Sindo Mayor finished behind Harkey for second place with an 89. Steve Sutherland at 92 and Don Boyd’s 93 gave them third and fourth place money. All the flights were very tight with one playoff for first place.
