Jeff Rausch (Champ Flight) Cletis Dozier (A Flight) Dave Courtright (B Flight) Sindo Mayor (C Flight)
Championship Flight: David Watterworth and Jeff Rausch played in the same group Wednesday and battled all day long. It was Rausch getting Watterworth on the front nine as he posted a one under par 35 to David’s one over par 37. However the back nine Watterworth began to heat up as he birdied 10, 11 and 13 to go to 2 under par for the day. Meanwhile Rausch made double on the par five 13th and bogied the 14th to put himself 4 behind Watterworth. Then Rausch fought back down the stretch as he birdied the 15th and then eagled the par 5 17th to finish at one under par 71 tied with Watterworth for the day. On the card playoff Rausch beat out Watterworth for first place victory. Mark Federal, John Walters and Ken Powers all finished 2 back at 73. Federal beat out Walters for third place money. A Flight: The lowest round of the day came from A Flight as Cletis Dozier played the round of his life on tour putting his way to a 3 under par 69. Dozier’s round included 5 birdies on the day and a 3 under par 33 on his back nine holes. The victory for Cletis was his first ever in A Flight after being promoted last year from the B flight. Ted Friel continues to play strong this season and fired a smooth 73 good enough for second place. Grant Hoffman and Steve Williams both tied at 74, but Hoffman nipped Williams on the card for third place money. After the scores were posted and handicaps readjusted Grant Hoffman will now be move to Championship flight as his handicap dropped to a 3.3. Congrats Grant on your promotion. B Flight: Dave Courtright won for the first time this season as he blistered Carolina Lakes on Wednesday firing a strong 76 for his victory. Two players were right on Courtright’s heels as Bill Shenoha beat out Bill Barnett for second, both players shot 78’s. James Brannen cashed in fourth over Frank Czaniecki with both players shooting 79. Again after the results were posted and handicaps updated Barnett and Brannen were promoted to the A Flight. Congrats to both on “moving up”. C Flight: Sindo Mayor had been frustrated all season with his game but found something Wednesday as he shot 78 to earn his first victory of the 2010 campaign and also an automatic promotion to the B flight. Way to go Sindo! Michael Hinson also played well and received a promotion to B flight as Hinson fired an 82 and finished in second place. John Crofts finished alone in 3rd place with 84 while Mark Roden beat out Larry Hinson on the scorecard to get 4th place money; both players shot 85’s.
