Championship Flight: John Walters won at Edgewater Wednesday despite not driving the ball very well. Given the tee ball loss John made up considerably with his putter firing a 34, 36 2 under par round of 70. Three other players were right on Johns heals as Brad Kroll had 3 birdies on the back nine, Greg Powel 2 and Ken Powers eagled the par five 17th trying to catch Walters. All of them finished 2 shots back at even par 72’s. On the card Powers got second, Kroll third and Powell 4th. A Flight: 74 for the second tourney in a row was the number for A Flight, as Paul Gargano and Grant Hoffman both finished at this number. Gargano won for the first time this season on the card playoff and Hoffman got 2nd. Ted Friel last weeks winner finished one shot back at 75 to capture third place. Tim Romeo rounded out the top four places with 76. B Flight: William Greiner won for the second straight tournament and with it came a promotion to the A flight for the rest of the season. Greiner fired a low round of 74 bettering James Herndon by 2. Herndon’s best round of the season put him alone in second while Bill Maryman finished in third with 77. Newcomer Tommy Simpson also had a nice round and came in fourth place with 78. C Flight: Van Storie had the round of his life on tour and also accepted his promotion to B flight with excitement. So excited was Van that he took of before he got his victory picture taken. No worries Van camera hog Ken Powers of the Champ Flight was more than happy to take your place. Mac Geddie finished in second place while Tony Schiffers 85 was good for third. James Izral beat out Mike Hinson and Jimmy Taylor on the card for 4th place. All three men shot 86.
