Championship Flight: Jerry Sennett had been playing very consistent thus far early in the season but playing his home course helped him break through for his first victory of the season. Sennett turned in 34 (2 under par) and then birdied number 10 to go to three under and looked to run away and hide. Then the 11th stop him in his tracks when he made a double bogey 5. From that point on it was fairways and greens for Jerry as he pared the remaining 7 holes for a one shot victory. John Walters kept the pressure on Sennett by finishing one shot back with an even par round of 72. Walters round included four birdies to go with four bogies. Wayne Godwin cashed for the first time this season with a fine one over par round of 73 while Tom Cone rounded out the top four spots with 74. A Flight: Newcomer Brian Failing won for the first time on tour by firing a nice 76 on Wednesday. Failing, also a Cowans Ford, member took advantage of his home course knowledge for the win. Grant Hoffman kept the heat on Failing and finished only one shot behind in second place with 77. Toby Tyler and Tommy Lee both finished the day at 79 but it was Tyler beating out Lee on the card for third place. B Flight: Michael Maciejewski played the tournament round of his life and also accepted his promotion to the A flight Monday at Piper Glen. Michael shot an even par 72 beating the next closest player James Brannen by 6 shots. Brannen also a Cowans Ford member finished in second place followed by Tommy Simpson in third place with his 81. Robert Winfrey beat out Chester Brileya in sudden-death playoff for 4th spot, both players shot 82. C Flight: Bob Mayer also played “Lights Out” Wednesday and received his promotion to B flight with a stellar round of 79. A pair of 83’s tied for second place but it was Van Storie beating out Stan Wetmore for second place. Rounding out the top four was Bill Holland at 86.
