Jeff Rausch (Champ) Alan Wallwork (A Flight) James Brannen (B Flight) John Crofts (C Flight)
Pine Lake CC once again provided very fast putting surfaces. All players enjoyed the day even though putting conditions were something they may have never seen before. Thanks again to all the staff at Pine Lake CC for letting us play this great old designed course. Looking forward to coming back next year. Championship Flight: Jeff Rausch won his second Senior Amateur Tour event of the season but he had to make up three shots on the back nine to do so. Rausch turned at even par 36 to find himself three shots behind Ken Powers who fired an opening nine 33. Rausch promptly birdied # 10 and 13 to put the heat back on Powers. Powers still held the lead after double bogging the 16th but his double bogie at the 18th gave Rausch the one shot victory. Rausch ended with an even par 72 while Powers finished second with 73. Jerry grabbed third place with 74 while former Pine Lake member Ted Cox shot 77 good enough for 4th place. A Flight: Newcomer Alan Wallwork fired an 80 to capture his first tour victory by one shot over Brian Failing. Wallwork will also be a sponsor this year on tour by providing reshafting and club repair to all Senior Amateur Tour players. Look for more on this in upcoming events. Brian Failing’s second place just beat out 2 other players at 82. Terry Lewis won on the card playoff for third place and Mike Purkey finished in 4th. B Flight: James Brannen won for the second straight week with an 80 and looks to be improving rapidly with hopes of going to A Flight soon. Tour veteran Bill Barnett finished in second just 2 shots behind Brannen with 82. Bill Shenoha grabbed third place with 84 while Steve Shelton beat out Chester Brileya for 4th place. Both Shelton and Brileya fired 85’s. C Flight: John Crofts and Bill Holland both finished tied for first place with 88 on Wednesday. Crofts first year on tour learned that scoring well on the number one handicap hole pays off as he beat Holland on the card for his first tour victory. Bill Holland still received 2nd place money while Cordy Worth cashed for the first time this season with a smooth 92 for third spot. Holland and Worth played in the same group so they pushed each other all day, from what Holland reported Cordy made a miles worth of putts to keep the pressure on. John Willman beat out Bill Lovine for 4th place on the card playoff with both players shooting 93’s. The tours next Two stops will be this Wednesday April 7th (10am shotgun) at Cowans Ford CC and then the following Monday at Piper Glen (TPC) also 10am shotgun start. Please email me back (Yes or No) for both if you have not already done so. Cowans will offer all participants a $25 rate available Monday & Tuesday and Piper Glen will be $65 practice round rates for Tuesday-Thursday and Friday morning (Availabiltiy?) only!!! Show your tour card to get the rate please.
