Championship Flight: Tom Cone birdies his final hole to tie Ted Cox and then beats him on the card playoff for his first victory of the season. Both Cone and Cox lit up the front side, cone with four birdies and Cox with and eagle at four and a birdie at eight. Both players turned at 2 under par 34 and then fired 37’s on the back for one under 71’s. Right behind them was a pair of even par 72’s; Jim Hunsuck and Bill Hall. Hunsuck grabbed third and Hall fourth on the card. A Flight: Terry Lewis cruised around in fine fashion yesterday with a 73. Len McAlister finished in second place at 75. Wayne Nixon cashed for the first time in a while winding up in third place with 76. Roy Santonil, Lee Sargent and Rex Mills all finished tied for 4th with 77’s, but it was Santonil beating them all on the card for the gift card. B Flight: Marshall Wolfe had the round of the year for him winning B flight by 3 shots at 76. Lonnie Nichols also played great and fired a 79 good enough by one shot for second place. Three players shot 80 will Bill Maryman getting third place and Robert Winfrey fourth, leaving John Love in fifth place after the playoff. C Flight: Don Elsass captured first place by only one shot over Gary Graham on Wednesday. Elsass won with 83 and Graham was second with 84. Van Storie played consistently all day and finished in third place with 86. Again another log jam for 4th spot, this time 89 was the number. Charles Pate beat out Jim Castello and Mike Bouchon. I just spoke with the GM Wesley Jones and he said the course is in the best shape it has been in for years. Practice rounds are available (Monday-Friday) for only $30. Saturday/Sunday after 2pm will also be available for only $30. 2009 Tour Championship (Pinehurst, NC) I need everyone who currently sits in the top 20 to register on the web page for the Tour Championship in Pinehurst. As many of you have asked me (What courses are we playing) I need to see the break outs by flight to give you that answer. We have contracted with these courses for the next 3 years so you will get to play them all eventually.
