Swenson, Wardrop and Lepage win at Northstone CC

A beautiful Wednesday morning and afternoon greeted the largest field this year on the Charlotte tour.  94 golfers teed it up at my home track.  Thanks to all the players for coming out and supporting the tour and making this tour bigger and better.

In the Championship Flight it was a First-year player, Brian Swenson finally breaking the ice and picking up his first victory of the season by shooting the only under par round on the day.  Brian's round of 71 was 2 better than 2 others.  Second goes to Jeff Brischke who beats out Bill Phillips on the scorecard playoff after both players hot 73.  Scott Patnode (74) takes home 4th and rounding out the top 5 was Bruce Gantt who shot 75.

In the A Flight, David Wardrop uses the local course knowledge to take a one-shot victory after shooting a great round of 78.  This was a great comeback for Dave as his round at River Run was not quite so stellar.  Tim Woodward (79) takes home second after getting off to a slow start but played well coming home and passed several players in the final few holes. Scott Ide take home 3rd place shooting 80 plus he won a couple of flight and Super Skins after making Eagle on 12 and a birdie on 14. Jim Goulding and I (Phil VanGeersdaelen) tied at 81 but Jim won the scorecard playoff to decide the 4th and 5th place spots.

In the B Flight, Mike Nickols makes a successful return to the tour shooting a blazing round of 74 to win by 4 over another newcomer David Isaacs who shot 78.  After posting the scores, both players received promotions to the A Flight as their tour index dropped below the 8.9 threshold for B Flight.  3rd goes to Michael Del Priore shooting 79.  Howard Lofton makes a successful return in 2019 by taking 4th shooting 80 and rounding out the top 5 was Allston Moore (82) who beat out Nolan Elenz on the scorecard playoff.

In the C Flight, Kevin Lepage who has been knocking on the door all season, finally breaks through for his first victory on tour.  Kevin shot 82 to win by 3 over Dan Keddie (85) and Russell McDonald.  Tommy Stokes from the Myrtle Beach tour came in 4th shooting 86 and rounding out the top 5 was Rondal Gibson who shot 87.

Our next event takes us to Cowans Ford CC in Stanley, NC.  Please remember to REGISTER and Pay Online as this helps us out tremendously as we prep for the tournament.

Thanks

Phil
