Sennett, McAlister, Burgess and Workman all grab victory at the Club at Irish Creek! The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 18th tournament of the season at the Club at Irish Creek. Thanks to Alan Kress and all the staff for giving the tour one of the finest tournaments of the season. We are grateful to play on one of Davis Loves true masterpieces. Championship Flight: With perfect greens ideal playing conditions I was looking for some very low scores. After the front nine no one was better than 36 but a few birdies here and there made the final holes really count. Jerry Sennett won for the second time this season and nipped point’s leader Brad Kroll on the card for first place. Both Sennett and Kroll shot 72’s. As always in each flight one stroke matters and many times playoffs decide cashing higher or lower. Ken Powers and Jim Hunsuck followed both trends by firing 73’s to finish one back and Power nipped Hunsuck on the card for third. A Flight: Len McAlister had his best score ever on tour, and found the perfect greens to his liking. McAlister was the only player all day to break par and finished in first place well ahead of the pack with 70. Terry Lewis continues his consistent play to finish in second with 77. Rex Mills recently back from some minor injuries continue to get his game in form and fished in third at 79. Doug McAlister and Cecil Lockley both fired a pair of 80’s but McAlister won fourth on the playoff. B Flight: Joe Burgess won for the first time this season and did so with four birdies and his lowest round ever on tour at 74. Robert Winfrey also played well and captured second place at 76. Terry McClure grabbed third with 78 and Sam Carpenter’s 80 was good for fourth place all alone. C Flight: Richard Workman has been struggling all season but yesterday got a little of his old form back and made his way to the winners circle with a fine 85 for his first victory of the season. Hershall Ball holed out for an eagle 2 on hole number two to keep Workman in check and Ball finished in second place on the card. Van Storie and Gary Graham both fired 86’s on Monday and before I even grabbed the cards for the playoff Graham had already guessed his fate, fourth place. Graham has now been in about five card playoffs and has yet to win one. Gary the solution is shoot one score lower or par/birdie the number one handicap hole everytime. Anyway Graham took it all in fun and Storie was happy to accept third place money. The tour stops next at Catawba Springs next Wednesday 9/02.
