The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 16th tournament of the season at Raintree CC. Thanks to Chris Fortnum and the staff at Raintree for all the great work and course conditions. The best shape we have ever seen the north course and the scores showed it by the most birdies made all season. Championship Flight: After the first nine holes were completed it was all Powers and Mielke combining for seven birdies on the front nine. Powers made the turn at 33 and Mielke 2 under par 34. The back side proved to be more difficult as both players made 2 birdies by the 13th hole. Mielke however added three bogies and Powers 2 bogies and a double on 16. Powers nipped Mielke on the card playoff for first place. Jeff Rausch finished in third place two shots back at 73 and Brad Kroll rounded out the top 4 with 74. With his finish Kroll retains his points lead in Champ Flight for now. A Flight: Bob Boettner won for the second time this season with a 76 on Tuesday. Boettner only nipped second place finisher Len McAlister by one shot. Len finished in second place with 77. Jim Gregory lit up the back side to finish in third place at 78 while Cletis Dozier rounded out the top four with 79. B Flight: Marshall Wolfe had his best round of the season finishing in first spot with 77. Wolfe was the only player in B Flight to break 80 on the north course. Terry McClure and Bill Shenoha both finished at 81, but it was McClure taking second place on the card playoff. Bill Maryman beat out Joe Redmond and Joe Burgess on the card for 4th place; all of them posted 84’s. C Flight: Local member Bill Chaplin won for the first time all season and used his knowledge well en route to an 82. Frank Herr kept Chaplin honest and finished in second spot only 2 shots back at 84. Three players finished at 88, with Richard marazza finishing third and Anthony Bruno fourth on the card playoff. Sindo Mayor finished out of the money in fifth place. The tour stops next week at Firethorne CC on August 12th. The course has events going on this week so the only day available for practice round is next Tuesday for $40 per player. Please email me back (Yes or No) if you wish to enter for Firethorne.
