The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 14th tournament of the season at Rock Barn CC. Thanks to Jeff Isenhour and the staff at the Jones Course for all the great work and course conditions. Hole number six is really all ready the signature hole and now add the Waterfall something spectacular. Championship Flight: After 18 holes three players were in the club house at 74. David Watterworth, John Burton and Ted Cox all posted 74’s and we went to the card playoff for first and second place. David Watterworth beat out both Burton and Cox on the card for the victory while Burton nipped Cox for second place. Finishing just one shot back; 75 was also a popular number. Jim Hunsuck, Mark Wagner and John Walters all finished tied for fourth spot with Hunsuck winning on the card playoff. A Flight: Doug Masters from the Triad tour came down and captured his first victory in Charlotte with a stellar 78 on Wednesday. Doug needed his fine performance as won by only 2 shots over Raleigh’s Bob Rudolph who captured second with 80. Lee Sargent and Len McAlister both fired a pair of 81’s but it was Sargent grabbing third and McAlister fourth place on the card. B Flight: Jim Taylor made it two years in a row at Rock Barn by beating the 30 man B Flight field with 78. Finishing with his best place of the season was Bill Shenoha in second with 79. A pair of 80’s once again went to the card and it was Don Russell beating out Dave Galloway for 3rd place. C Flight: Jim Castello fired an 86 on Wednesday to claim victory for the first time this season. Sindo Mayor again finishes in second place but has yet to win this year in C Flight. Mayor finished in second place with an 88. Don Elsass and Jim Graham finished tied at 91’s but with Elsass checking the scorecard playoff Graham new he had no chance and he was right as Elsass beat him on the card for third place (lol). That would have been all for the “C” Flight results but for this one tid-bit. We have had numerous “Hole-in-Ones on the tour but never one for a three. Larry Hinson hit his first shot on the par 3 15th hole into the ravine and the calmly placed another ball down on the tee and “Slammed” in the hole for a 3! The tour stops on Tuesday 8/04/09 at the Raintree (North Course). The course is in the best shape it could possibly be in from all the reports I have received. Practice rounds are available for only $30 (Tuesday-Thursday). Please email me back (Yes or No) and hope to see all of you at Raintree.
