Jim Hunsuck(Champ) Otis Worthy(A Flight) Sloan Edwards (C Flight) Max Mast (B Flight)!
The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 13th tournament of the season at Raintree CC. Thanks to Chris Fortnum and the staff at Raintree for all the great work and course conditions. The best shape we have ever seen the south course and the scores showed it by the most birdies made all season. Championship Flight: Jim Hunsuck had a great day Tuesday firing a 3 under par 69 for his second victory of the season. Butch Mielke and John Walters both ties for second with 72’s but it was Mielke getting second place money on the scorecard playoff. Rounding out the top four spots was Ken Powers with a one over par 73. A Flight: Otis Worth won for the first time all season with a stellar round of 74. Otis said he made everything he looked at and the hole looked like a trash can lid. Otis needed his putter to just nip out Lee Sargent who finished in second place with 75. The Triad tours Doug Masters finished in third spot with 76, while two players tied at 79. Cletis Dozier and Len McAlister both finished tied but it was Dozier nipping McAlister on the card to place fourth. B Flight: Max Mast also won for the first time this season and did so in convincing fashion. Mast hit 16 greens and got up and down on the 2 he missed en route to his best score ever on tour a smooth 73. Max attributed his success to not playing a practice round and just playing each shot conservatively. Lonnie Nichols finished in second place three shots back with 76. Jerry York wound up third with 77 and Bill Maryman got fourth spot at 78. Six players broke 80 which is the most all season in B flight. C Flight: Sloan Edwards previous three scores were 91, 94, 92 going into Raintree. Sloan took advantage of the greens rolling so well and shot the best round of his career 78. Sloan’s playing competitors said he made everything he looked at. Also finishing with a low score was Jeff Davidson with 82 good enough for second spot. Gary Graham finished in third place with 83 while Charlie Wallace grab fourth spot with an 84. The tour stops next week at the newly redone Pine Island CC on July 15th. The course is in the best shape it could possibly be in from all the reports I have received. Practice rounds are available for only $30 (Tuesday-Thursday).
