Scott Roberts, Jace Gause, Brien Cozart, and Bart Cragen, and Sherill Johnson all won The Senior Low Country Regional at Caledonia Golf Club and True Blue Golf Club.
The Senior Low Country Regional, held at Caledonia Golf Club and True Blue Golf Club, showcased exceptional golf talent. A total of 112 players from 14 local tours competed fiercely for the top position. The weather was warm yet dry, and the impressive scores reflected the golfers' preparedness for the event.
In the Champ Flight, both Scott Roberts (Charlotte, NC) and Bruce Gant (Charlotte, NC) finished Day One at one over par at Caledonia. However, on Day Two, Roberts and Marty Bunch (Charleston, SC) delivered impressive performances, each recording rounds of five under par (67). This outstanding play secured Roberts the victory and elevated Bunch to second place. Gant managed to maintain his position in third place with an even par round of 72.
The A Flight proved to be a competitive contest throughout the day, with the lead changing hands multiple times. Ultimately, Jace Gause (Charleston, SC) emerged victorious, finishing with rounds of 75 and 76 for a total score of 146 (+9), two strokes ahead of four players—Tony Apperson (Augusta, GA), Eddie Jaggers (Central Carolina), Bob Shehan (Eastern NC), and John Caulfield (Eastern, NC) —who all tied for second place at +11.
The B Flight resembled a competitive race for second place, as Brien Cozart (Eastern NC) showcased exceptional golf skills, concluding the Two-Day event at 147 (+5). Following closely in second place was Bill Carn (Augusta, GA), who finished at 153 (+11), while Shawn Cacioppo (Central Carolina) secured third with a total score of 155 (+13).
The C Flight was clinched by Bart Cragen (Eastern NC), who posted rounds of 81 and 78, securing first place by a margin of five strokes over Anthony Corso (California), who recorded scores of 83 and 81. Norm Fay (Eastern NC) had an impressive round of 79 on the second day resolving in a three-way tie for third place among him, James Lingo (Eastern NC), and Christopher Cabingas (Eastern NC), all of whom finished with a total score of 170 (+28) over the two days.
The D Flight competition proved to be as fiercely contested as it is each year. Sherrill Johnson (Eastern NC) achieved a pivotal par on the final hole, securing his victory and displaying enthusiasm that made him one of the most exuberant winners. Tying for second place was T.J. James (Augusta, GA) and last year's champion, David Kubik (Augusta, GA). James’s round of 84 earned him a spot in the scorecard playoff for second place.
We also want to congratulate Allen Kinney (Eastern NC), the winner of our V Foundation raffle, who has earned a brand-new Srixon ZXi Driver which was donated by Srixon, one of our Tour Sponsor’s. $505 was raised at the Senior Low Country Regional.
