Bryan Park Golf - 4 Stars by Golf Digest
Be prepared for a great Tournament experience as you get a chance to play both courses this week over Wednesday and Thursday.
There’s not much to say about these venues – They are great courses to play and will be part f your favorites if you’ve never played them before.
The Champions Course opened in 1990 by the legendary Rees Jones. Therefore be warned, it can become a real skill challenge! It is a big time course that is always looked at and most times selected for competitive rounds to separate the real golfer from the pretenders.
This is an 18 hole championship layout featuring 97 sand traps, numerous grass bunkers, hollows and seven holes bordering Lake Townsend.
The Players Course opened in 1974. Originally designed by George Cobb, the course was later modified by Rees Jones.
Do not be lulled asleep by Bryan Park Players Course. Be warned, the Players Course will get you if you fail to execute any shot correctly.
Expect your peers to have already signed-up. You know the drill - to sign-up call Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 or email him at behgolf@aol.com.

"Improve your golf mental toughness 10-fold"
Every golfer has heard the saying "It's all in your head" or "Golf is 90% mental" or "Golf is the most mentally demanding sport in the world." Yet what do golfers do about it? Well, most often absolutley nothing! Not necessarily because they don't want to, but sometimes golfers actually think the mental game doesn't matter to them!
Click Here to Unlock Your Mind and Shoot Better Golf
EVERY golfer can benefit from increasing their mental toughness and harnessing the full power of thier mind!
Many golfers naively get stuck into thinking that the mental game only matters for elite players or pros who make a living golfing. Nonsense! EVERY golfer needs to use their mind properly.
It is your mind that determines how well you learn when taking lessons. (and this training course is packed with accelerated learning techniques that will have you absorbing more from lessons)
It is your mind that will allow you to set up to the ball correctly and commit to your swing (or not!).
It is your mind that will either stay focused under pressure and get you to make a smooth, fluid stroke when you need to drain an 8 footer for the win, or have you choking like a dog and collapsing like a house of cards when the heat is on!
"When you have a chance to shoot the lowest score of your life you won't choke - You Will Go Low!"
SOGGY VICTORS GO LOW IN SENIOR AMATEUR EVENT
Carthage, NC
June 6, 2013
The weather report wasn't good, but unfortunately, it was accurate. 92 Tour members teed it up today at Little River Resort for a scheduled Senior Amateur Golf Tour event. Light rains greeted the players from the outset and got worse as the group had finished 9 holes, causing event officials to pull the golfers from the course due to standing water on the greens.
After a wait of approximately 45 minutes, players were called back to the course to finish their rounds. 62 intrepid golfers answered that call and resumed play. Despite the unfriendly conditions, a number of players in each flight were able to post very impressive scores.
Heading up that group was Zebulon's Gus Alford, who fired a 1-under 71 to top all A Flight competitors. He was 4 strokes clear of a trio of players - Tour newcomer Hugh Beckwith of West End, playing in his first Tour event, and Tour veterans Dexter Barbee of Burlington and Zebulon's Dale Casey.
The B Flight saw Durham's Neil Bleau make it two Tour wins in-a-row, as the only B Flight member to break 80 with a 78. Bleau's effort was remarkable considering that he played in this very same event last year and posted a 99. Smithfield's Randy Robbins and Charles Smith of Durham were 2nd and 3rd respectively with an 82 and 83.
Sophia's Dennis Bryant garnered the biggest prize of the event with his C Flight win after posting an 85. Two other C Flight players were able to break that magic "90 barrier", as Greensboro's Mike Hunter shot an 88 and Dick Schuler of Pittsboro logged an 89.
Multiple Tour event winner Ron Hockensmith of Whispering Pines continued his fine Championship Flight play this year with a 74 that edged Durham's Eric Ardery by a single shot. Raleigh's Rick LaFata, Pinehurst's Steve DeBolt, and High Point's Joey Moffitt all finished with 78s.
The next Senior Amateur Tour stop is a 2-day event to be held at Bryan Park in Greensboro on June 12 and 13. There are a few spots still available for that tournament.

Where Will You Be in the 2013 Season Ending Point Standings Race?
There are only two ways to get to the year ending National Tournament - win one of the four majors or be one of the Top 10 point earners in your flight.
As you plot your tour schedule, be cognizant of the fact, only the top 10 are guaranteed access. Usually, most flight races are tight and depends on how well you play and of course how many tour dates you participate in during 2013.
Do you know how many tournaments you will need to play and what place you will need to finish in each tournament to ensure you have your automatic invitation?

TTour Weather Guidelines
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If Primarily, the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
