As you recall, Meadowlands has long rolling fairways and luscious bent grass greens. However, don't be lulled to sleep, if you are not careful it will snap you back to reality very quickly and cause you to card some big scores on some holes.
But if you pay attention, low scores can be had.
Meadowlands was designed and created by Hale Irwin, one of the games greatest players and is a golf course that is both rewarding and challenging.
Arrive early enough to take advantage of their practice facility which has an excellent driving range, short game area and putting green that should help you mentally shave a few strokes off your score.

FIRM GREENS CAUSE SCORES TO RISE IN SENIOR TOUR EVENT AT CAROLINA TRACE
Sanford, NC
(April 26, 2012)
The Carolina Trace Country Club Lakes Course was picture perfect - just like a post card. Another Senior Amateur Tour sell-out was greeted by lush fairways and new greens that putted fast and true. However, because they were new and firm, approach shots had a tendency to release more than most players expected, resulting in higher scores across the board.
While a vast majority of the day was played in bright sunlight, an isolated rain storm that lasted about 30 minutes almost half-way through the round, didn't help the scoring much either. Despite those circumstances, a few of the top players did well and walked away with Master Cards for posting a score in the top four of their flight.
Just before the brief rain delay, Championship Flight member Rick Luzar of Pinehurst mentioned "The way these greens are playing, I'd sign for a 78 right now". Three hours later Luzar proved to be clairvoyant, posting that exact number (78) for a 2-stroke win in the top flight. Raleigh's Doug Michal was runner-up with an 80.
Rockingham's John East, playing from one tee-box shorter than his Championship Flight cohorts, posted the lowest score of the day with a 75, for top honors in the A Flight. Jim Rohr's 78 put the Pinehurst resident alone in 2nd.
Nobody in the B Flight managed to break 80, but Smithfield's Randy Robbins continued his strong play of late to lead the way with an 82. Fuquay-Varina's Mark Randall was 3 shots back. In C Flight action, Harold Booker of Raleigh became a multiple Tour winner this season with a 92 that was the class of the field. James Eatmon of Sims had a 94.
The next Senior Tour event is this coming Thursday, May 3, at Meadowlands Golf Club between Kernersville and Winston-Salem. Any amateur golfer over 50 interested in playing in a Senior Amateur Golf Tour event can contact Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556, or by email at behgolf@aol.com.

Tour Weather Guidelines
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
