SALEM GLEN MAGIC FOR 2 SENIOR TOUR MEMBERS

Clemmons, NC  (August 18, 2011)  -  Mike Smith of Lewisville and Charles Pace of Lexington have good reason to call Salem Glen Country Club one of their all-time favorite courses.  Both have enjoyed success at the venue on more than one occasion. Smith registered his personal best lifetime score of 66 on the course some time ago.  Today he came within 1 stroke of equaling that mark with a 67 for a comfortable 4-shot Championship Flight win.  "It's always nice when you can post a score without a single bogey", said Smith.  His 67 also is the best score turned in on the Triad and Raleigh/Pinehurst Tours this season.  Pinehurst's Chuck Taubersmith was 2nd with a 71.

Pace meanwhile, playing in the C Flight, shot an 82 for a 2 shot win over Greensboro's Mike Robinson.  This was Pace's 2nd career victory in 8 years "on-Tour".  The site of his previous victory?  -  Salem Glen, of course.  "This track just suits me" quipped Pace.

Charlotte Tour member Jeff Hughes emerged as top gun in the A Flight with a 75 that edged Triad and Raleigh Tour members Tom Fagerli of Yadkinville and Durham's Bill Martinson by a single stroke.
The B Flight was just as tight as Asheboro's Joe Prairie also enjoyed a 1 shot win over a trio of golfers - North Myrtle Beach's Ron Caulder, Jeff Moore of Greensboro and Pfafftown's Jerry Tilley.  Prairie fired a 76 for the victory.

The next Senior Amateur Tour event is the season's final Major Championship at Anderson Creek GC in Spring Lake on August 25th.  Spots are still available for that tournament.  Call Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 for information on competing in any Senior Tour event.
