From: Stephen Ladd – Founder, Renegade Golf Fitness Institute
Are you serious about your golf game? I mean obsessed with crushing your drives, sticking your irons and draining putts? Not to mention becoming top dog in your foursome?
I thought so…
No doubt you’ve noticed the rise in popularity of fitness programs for the top players on all the Tours. Maybe you’ve started a fitness program in hopes of adding more power and distance, but aren’t getting the results you were hoping for . . or even worse, you end up injured and can’t play at all.
There is one primary reason for this, and I’m going to tell you all about it. But first, let me introduce myself.
My name is Stephen Ladd, and my obsession is training golfers as athletes, and developing their bodies to better use their golf skills and play to their peak potential. I have been doing just that for over 16 years… long before the “golf fitness” craze began.
I have been trained and certified through the most prestigious golf fitness organizations in the world, including The Titleist Performance Institute and CHEK Institute.

STURDIVANT WINS SENIOR TOUR PLAYOFF AT MEADOWLANDS COUNTRY CLUB
Wallburg, NC
May 1, 2014
It took 4 extra holes, but Sanford's Craig Sturdivant emerged victorious in the Senior Amateur Golf Tour event held at The Meadowlands Golf Club. After finishing regulation play tied with High Point's Joey Moffitt and Thomasville's Dan Anthony after all three posted 75s, Sturdivant won it on the 410 yard 18th hole with a par.
Anthony had extended the playoff on the 2nd extra hole by making a 12 foot birdie after Sturdivant was safely in the cup. Sturdivant returned the favor on the very next hole with a 6 footer of his own to take it to the deciding 18th.
Largely due to the fact that the A Flight played from tees 400 yards shorter than their Champ Flight counterparts, their scores reflected that differential. None more clearly than the effort posted by Charlotte's William Lee. He shot a 2-under 70 from the 5901 yard White tees for a 2-shot cushion over Walnut Cove's Roger Joyce.
The low scores continued in the B Flight with Bermuda Run's Ron Vanderklok firing a 75 for the win. He also enjoyed a 2 shot edge over his closest rival - Advance's Dawson Strider.
Not to be outdone, the C Flight winner, Mark Denton of Mocksville fired one of the lowest flight scores of the season with an 83. He also was 2 strokes clear of his nearest pursuers, Greensboro's Mike Hunter and John Hall of Raleigh.
Next stop for the Senior Tour is May 8 at Mill Creek Golf Club. That event is almost sold out now. Contact Tour Director Bruce Hallenbeck at 336-495-6556 or email him at behgolf@aol.com to reserve one of the last spots available.

Where Will You Be in the 2014 Season Ending Point Standings Race?
There are only two ways to get to the year ending National Tournament - win one of the four majors or be one of the Top 15 point earners in your flight.
As you plot your tour schedule, be cognizant of the fact, only the top 15 are guaranteed access. Usually, most flight races are tight and depends on how well you play and of course how many tour dates you participate in during 2014.
Do you know how many tournaments you will need to play and what place you will need to finish in each tournament to ensure you have your automatic invitation?

Rules Review
It has been suggested that there should be a series of Rules scenarios for you to solve. So begins a series of problems titled What's the Score?
Doc Miller has graciously agreed to allow me to share these with you that he has been sending since July 2009.
I will include one each week. You should try to determine the answer based upon your knowledge of the Rules when ever possible and then use your Rule book to confirm.
There will be no trick questions or hidden information.
If you do not have a Rules of Golf book handy, go to: usga.org/Rule-Books and-Decisions
Jerry’s ball hit rocks inside a water hazard and bounced back into play. He thinks to himself that his ball may be damaged because of its contact with the rock. He marks and lifts the ball to inspect it. He finds no other damage other than brown scuff mark on the ball where it impacted the rock. Choose the correct statement:
A. If Jerry correctly concludes this ball is not unfit for play and replaces it, there is no penalty.
B. If Jerry replaces the ball he incurs a penalty of one stroke.
C. If Jerry cleaned his ball beyond what is necessary to inspect it for damage before replacing, he would be penalized a total of two strokes.
D. If Jerry incorrectly substitutes another ball by placing it on the original spot, he is immediately penalized a total of two strokes or in a match, would lose the hole, but there is no additional penalty under R5-3.
Answer:
B is the correct answer.
Jerry might think his ball is damaged, but he must inform somebody of that thought and what he intends to do in case they want to watch his inspection and perhaps view the ball as well.
[A] is incorrect because the procedure for inspecting a ball for damage (R5-3) is identical to the one for lifting a ball for identification (R12-2). The player must:
1. Announce to his opponent, fellow competitor or marker his intention to lift the ball.
2. Give that person the opportunity to observe the lifting/inspection/replacement.
3. Mark the ball before lifting.
4. The ball must not be cleaned beyond what is necessary to inspect.
5. Replace
Failure to comply with any of 1 thru 4 results in a 1 stroke penalty. Jerry didn’t comply with 1 or 2.
[C] is incorrect because any breach of the procedure is a 1-stroke penalty and other breaches are not accumulative.
[D] is incorrect because the penalty for an improper substitution only applies if the player makes a stroke at the ball. If Jerry realized his mistake before the stroke, he could correct his error under R20-6.
Something to consider:
When lifting a ball because the player is unsure of its identification, meaning it might be his, this procedure should be used even if the ball the player lifts turns out to be a stray ball. When there is doubt as to the identification of your ball—for any ball you lift—you should adhere to the requirements for proper lifting/inspecting/identification.
The reason I emphasize this is because if the ball is your ball in play and you neglected to follow the procedure, you will be penalized one stroke. While you would not be penalized for improper procedure if the ball is deemed a stray ball, why take that chance?

TTour Weather Guidelines
Primarily, we adhere to the same guidelines that the PGA Tour uses: If Primarily, the course is open, we're going to play.
The only exception to this is that I'll never put any of you in harm's way during an event because of dangerous weather. (i.e. - lightening or severe cold and wetness).
In other words, I won't let the course "bully" us into playing where an unsafe condition might exist.
Because I arrive at every event at least two hours prior to the start time and I generally have to leave my house at least an hour before that to get to the course, there is no sense calling me just before the event, because I won't be at the office. The best avenue to take is to call the course if the weather seems threatening.
If you are on the roster for the event, and you do not get a cancellation notice from the course after calling them, you are expected to show up in time for the scheduled shotgun start.
Please forward this e-mail to your friends, peers, relatives or anyone you think would be interested in putting their golf skills to a test against others.
