Jeff Rausch (Champ) Joe Burgess (B Flight) Sindo Mayor (C Flight)
The 2009 Harris Teeter Senior Tour completed its 19th tournament of the season at the Catawba Springs CC. Thanks to Duke McLauchlin and all the staff for giving us great conditions on the pick weather day of the year. Championship Flight: While everyone else in Champ Flight was having front nine problems Jeff Rausch came out smoking birding 1,4 & 9 to fire a 2under par 34. Rausch at one point got it to 4 under par but some bogies and a triple at the tough 17th hole left him at one over par 73. Rausch still took home first beating John Walters and Mark Wagner by two shots. Walters and Wagner both fired 75’s and it was Walters nipping Wagner on the card for second place. Jim Hunsuck and David Watterworth finished at 77 and Hunsuck grabbed 4th on the card playoff. A Flight: Larry Schimel won for the first time this season with a smooth 80 on Wednesday. Schimel was the first one in the club house and as we spoke I told him I felt like this might be a winning score. My predictions held up but Schimel had to leave and thus no winner’s picture. Cletis Dozier finished in second place with 81 while a host of 82’s battled on the card for third and fourth. Bob Boettner, Jim Gregory, Ron Ballew and Buck Carter all tied at 82’s, with Boettner winning 3rd and Gregory 4th. B Flight: Joe Burgess won for the second time in a row beating the field by three with a 79. Beattie Armstrong finished in second place at 82 while Marshall Wolfe grabbed third at 83. Steve Starnes and Darrell Wilson tied at 85 but it was Starnes beating him out on the card for 4th spot. C Flight: Sindo Mayor finally got into the winners circle with a magnificent 83 on Wednesday and also with his steady played moved up a flight to B for the rest of the season. Good Luck Sindo we know you will be competitive. Steve Harris cashed for the first time this season in second place with 87. Hershall Ball continues his improved played and fired an 88 good enough for third place. Points leader Don Elsass beat out Mike Solender on the card for fourth. The tour stops next at Skybrook GC next Wednesday 9/16. Please email me back (Yes or No) to get signed up. Practice rounds are available (Monday-Friday) for only $30. 2009 Tour Championship (Pinehurst, NC) I need everyone who currently sits in the top 20 to register on the web page for the Tour Championship in Pinehurst. As many of you have asked me (What courses are we playing) I need to see the break outs by flight to give you that answer. We have contracted with these courses for the next 3 years so you will get to play them all eventually. No need to pay just go to the main page (www.harristeetersrtour.com) and click on the “Sign up Here” button. Fill in the information and that’s it, no need to pay now and if something comes up your not committed until November to pay. Also the Monday skins game is starting to fill up---The only way to assure a spot here is to pay ahead of time. You can click and pay by credit card or mail me a check. I expect this to be full well before the deadlines so don’t wait to long. Have a great Labor Day weekend and I’ll see all of you at Skybrook. Dennis McCormac 704-844-8264
